The 5 Pillars of Islam activity with guided instructions for kids

5 Pillars of Islam box activity - includes printable template and instruction guide for kids
We've started chapter 2 of the book "The Correct Creed for Children" which covers the 5 Pillars of Islam, the 6 Pillars of Iman and Ihsan.

The first part of the new chapter lists the 5 Pillars of Islam, and so last week we came up with this craft activity to show what they are before copying the text into our Islamic Studies books (see video below)

30 days of Ramadan ahadith to read aloud with your family!

30 days of Ramadan hadith - printable cards to read aloud daily throughout the month of Ramadan
I wanted something simple to use through-out Ramadan, that will help my family to pay attention to some of the benefits and practices of this month, whilst spending time together.

...And so from that thought, I've put together some simple little cards; one for each day of the month.
Each card shares a hadith relating to Ramadan that can be read as a family, pondered and discussed together, providing a nice short 5 minute daily activity inshaAllah.

Creative homeschool projects: The hadith of the four best women

Home school project ideas: Booklet based on the hadith of the four best women in Islam
With the number of blogs and education websites that are available now, it seems that ready made printables are becoming the work of choice for both parents and teachers because they offer a ready-to-go solution for quick easy lessons.

And this is awesome, don't get me wrong, I love a printable...I make and share plenty of them!

However, I fear that with this ease we as parents and educators find, we are kinda short-changing our children by not giving them so much opportunity to be creative and more hands on in their approach.

And this creative thinking is so important to their growth.

One thing I love seeing is kids original work. I'm not so imaginative when it comes to setting out projects, so being able to see what other families have done certainly helps me to direct the girls workings in a more authentic way.

The (hadith) tale of the leper, the bald man and the blind man e-book for kids!

This is the hadith collected in Sahih al-Bukhari, in the Book of the stories of the Prophets #3464, presented in a "story" format for children to enjoy as an e-book.

It has been broken down into smaller readable chunks to help kids read and comprehend the tale inshaAllah.

The text remains in its original translated meaning with the exception of a few minor modifications which simply changed the pronouns used to the name of whom was speaking, to make it easier for children to follow.

You can view it over on Scribd which is great if you have any tablet device - just download their free app! I believe if you have a kindle-fire you can also download the scribd app to view.

To view on Scribd, click through the high-lighted text below.

However, if you prefer to have something more tangible, then you can also download it from google docs to print inshaAllah, just click on the high lighted text below.

Tell me about Islam, Iman and Ihsan; (free) childrens e-book!

The hadeeth of Jibreel free ebook for kids
Good reading material for our children is hard to come by! I have always enjoyed reading ahadith, and I want to encourage my children towards reading them too inshaAllah.
However, for younger readers, the ahadith are written in a much more formal language style than what they are typically accustomed to reading.
To help them comprehend a little better, I have broken down the translated meaning of the hadith of Jibreel into smaller readable chunks in the form of a short children's book, with some quiz questions at the end.

You can preview in the embedment below (to print click on download right at the bottom), or head on over to Scribd (its a free e-reader) where you can read it on any tablet or phone (including your pc) as an e-book and save your printer ink inshaAllah, just click on the high-lighted text below!

*If you don't have a scribd account to download, the Hadeeth of Jibreel PDF file can also be downloaded from google docs inshaAllah { here }

As a side note -available online via youtube are recordings of a series of audio lessons on the explanation of Imaam an-Nawawi's Forty Hadeeth, from the Works of Shaikh Muhammad al-'Uthaymeen & Shaikh Saalih Aal ash-Shaikh, translated By Abu 'Iyaad Amjad Rafiq.
Lesson 3 of these audios is the explanation of this particular hadith.

There is also an English translation of the book authored by Shaykh 'Abdul-Muhsin Ibn Hamad al-'Abbaad "Explanation of the hadith of Jibril"

30 Hadeeth on Raising children!

30 Hadeeth on Raising Children - Advice for Parents and Educators
A beneficial 6 part audio series from Moosaa Richardson, discussing 30 ahadeeth on raising children; an advise for both parents and educators.

Raising our children is something which is such a huge responsibility; and this short series provides an insight into just how important it is that we take this role.

If you find it difficult to sit and listen to the daroos of the Ulema (Scholars) or talibul-ilm (students of knowledge), then try playing such audio lessons to listen to as you cook or do your household chores.

Listening to audios as you work makes your time far more beneficial and productive, as well as making daily tasks far more enjoyable.

You can find all 6 lessons over on the Troid website. (click on the highlighted text to be taken over there)
