Ready for action...

muslim homeschool

I've been out of sync for a while.....a very long while ....to the point its probably quite dangerous!
Our home schooling ventures have taken a back seat certainly over the past few months, and with that, the pressure to be secondary level ready over the upcoming year inshaAllah is etching itself deep into my consciousness!

Alhamdulillah, I have had what feels like a tirade of difficult situations over the past few years. Like each one of you reading this, we all have various struggles behind our closed doors.
I have faced some real obstacles, and I've been knocked off my feet a number of times. But now its time to dust myself off, stand and roll up my sleeves, put everything aside and remind myself why I am home educating...because I think I forgot for a time too long.

Its easy to look online at the blogs, with the carefully crafted pictures and delightful stories free from any woes, and feel inadequate with our own efforts.
But what we must realise, is what we read is only a small glimpse....I mean, no one wants to write about how they have a kid who melts down every time they open their maths book, or how they are forever trying to tidy a house that will never stay clean, or how for dinner last week everyone had toast or take out 5 days in a row because Mama just could not face walking into her kitchen to prepare a meal when everything just feels like its too much!
No, no one wants to write about that, just as much as we don't want to read about that either. It would be far too depressing for both writer and reader.

We want to read blogs that will inspire, help and motivate us to keep trying....because we have our own sticky floors, kids who hate maths, days where everything is a deep personal struggle and getting dinner on the table is just......hard.
We want to see there is hope, that we can do it because someone else shows us they can; we want reassuring we are doing the right thing inshaAllah.

I feel shy to share what we do or don't do, because I know what I offer on this blog is only a small piece of my big picture.
For a long time I stopped sharing anything regarding my own home schooling ventures and only shared resources I made or found.
However, I know as a home educator myself, its not really the resources I need from the blogs I occasionally visit.
I don't tend to read blogs very often any more, but when I do, its usually because I am searching for that inspiration and hope, I'm looking for that little piece of advise or gem I can take that will help me overcome my home schooling wobbles and challenges bi'itnillah.

With that being said, today I am beginning upon a new adventure; resetting our home school to give it a new sense of purpose and drive....and it might be nice to share a little along the way.
