Heart number flashcards / book 0-10

Z made some heart shaped number cards which she coloured (with Mama's help because she insisted it was too much work to do by herself!) and then we turned them over to add red glitter before laminating to make into cards.

When I put the file together for this project, I intended to staple them together at the side to produce a small book, but I figured laminating into cards might have more future use inshallah.

I've uploaded the file  (pictured below) and can be downloaded inshallah HERE!

"Welcome Ramadan" colouring work book!

I've put together an activity colouring book for K to do pre-Ramadan in order to teach her about this special month before it begins inshallah.
I hope to also make a simplified one for Z because she will want to do the same as her big sister, so if I manage to get it done, I'll upload that too inshallah.

Download your free copy of the Welcome Ramadan workbook!!!!

It includes worksheets covering basic:
  • Colouring / writing pages
  • why Allah created us
  • brief reminder of the 5 pillars
  • Islamic months
  • How do we fast?
  • Sahur
  • what to do if we forget we are fasting
  • What ruins our fast
  • behaving well
  • iftar
  • dua'a at the time of breaking fast
  • Qiyam ul layl
  • Laylat ul-Qadr
  • Ei'd ul Fitr
  • note book page to write what has been learnt
I plan to explain each topic on each page and discuss, before K colours and writes to complete each section inshallah.

It can either be put together to make a booklet (I printed mine A4 landscape) or could be used as worksheets I think too! .....I should have indented it inwards slightly on the left to allow punching into the margins....but didn't think about that till the end! Next time inshallah!
Just to note: The ahadith referenced in the booklet are all from the English translation published by Darussalam.
If I have made an error anywhere, please notify me so I can edit it! JazakumAllah khayrun.

All illustrations are from google images.

Noun Poster

I find that the more approaches we can use to learn or revise a concept, the easier it is for K to understand and retain information alhamdulillah, especially if something is a little more hands-on and visual.
Today we put together an A4 poster showing some noun examples, using the Montessori noun symbol above each word as revision.
Inshallah we will complete a poster for each of the grammar rules as we learn them and perhaps bind them together to form a booklet.

K decided to turn the poster into a spider diagram connecting lines to the centre title mashAllah! Its nice to see her developing her own work ta barakAllah.

A couple of days ago K also completed a couple of these noun worksheets available HERE!

How a child can become corrupted.....

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said
"How many people have caused misery to their own children, the apples of their eyes, in this world and in the Hereafter, by neglecting them, not disciplining them, encouraging them to follow their whims and desires, thinking that they were honouring them when they were in fact humiliating them, that they were being merciful to them when in fact they were wronging them. They have not benefited from having a child, and they have made the child lose his share in this world and in the Hereafter. If you think about the corruption of children you will see that in most cases it is because of the parents.”
